Selective fetal reduction or multiple fetal pregnancy reduction (MFPR) is

reasons.
fetal reduction
Fetal reduction is advised when a mother carries an unsafe or undesirable
number of fetuses in a multiple pregnancy (higher order).
1. Reduced health risks for the mother

2.Increases chances of a healthy birth – Reducing the number of fetuses can
increase the chances of a healthier birth and better outcomes for the
remaining embryos.
It is usually done between 11 to 14 weeks of pregnancy after the NT scan.
Under ultrasound guidance a needle ispassed through the mother’s
abdomen under local anesthesia and amedicine (potassium chloride) is
injected into one of the baby/babies to stop the heartbeat.
Depending on how many babies are reduced, there is a 5-15% chance of
miscarriage.

2. Accompany husband
3. Book prior appointment
